I Am The Very Model Of A Proper Hogwarts Sorting Hat

Sung to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan's Major General Song from The Pirates of Penzance.

By The Sorting Hat

HAT:
I am the very model of a proper Hogwarts Sorting Hat
Just put me on your head and I will find the right house just like that!
If you want some description of the options that I offer here
Just listen to me well and I assure you that you need no fear

The Gryffindors are nothing if they're not a quite enduring lot
When trouble rears its ugly head do they all hide? Well, surely not!
And they don't like it all that much if you are not an honest type
And around all their chivalry they place a rather unjust hype.

GRYFFINDORS
And around all our chivalry we place a rather deserved hype!
And around all our chivalry we place a rather deserved hype!
And around all our chivalry we place a rather deserved hype!

HAT
Yet, if you want adventure and a life of living on the edge
And you think that all cowardice is nothing but a sacrilege
In short, if you would gladly fight a dragon with a cricket bat
Then Gryffindor's what you will find within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

GRYFFINDORS
In short, if you would gladly fight a dragon with a cricket bat
Then Gryffindor's what you will find within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

HAT
The Hufflepuffs are diligent, though slightly immaterial
And they're about as similar as grains of breakfast cereal
Although you may be mocked because you're not the most distinguished kid
Without you all subordinates and workers would be gotten rid.

You must attempt to always work, regardless of banality
Considering that laziness carries much criminality
Loyalty's the biggest point, they all are classic altruists.
A Hufflepuff, above all else, is completely collectivist!

HUFFLEPUFFS (proudly)
A Hufflepuff, above all else, is completely collectivist!
A Hufflepuff, above all else, is completely collectivist!
A Hufflepuff, above all else, is completely collectivist!

HAT
Yet if you find that loyalty and study are the best of all
And think that others slacking is a troubled case of excess gall
In short, if you're not distinguished by being short or thin or fat,
Then Hufflepuff is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat.

HUFFLEPUFFS
In short, if you're not distinguished by being short or thin or fat,
Then Hufflepuff is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat.

HAT
The Ravenclaws are well versed in all things which have a scholar's touch
They like to read philosophy and complex science very much.
Their work is always excellent, they have a proper intellect
Their tests are always perfect, which is what your teachers will expect.

If you cannot believe that some people think class is glorious
And think that all the textbooks are just clumsy and laborious
Then Ravenclaw is not the house you'll want to enter into here
Yet, if you are the top of class, just put me on and have no fear!

RAVENCLAWS
Yet, if you are the top of class, just put him on and have no fear!
Yet, if you are the top of class, just put him on and have no fear!
Yet, if you are the top of class, just put him on and have no fear!

HAT
If you believe quite firmly in the truth of Einstein's eminence
And put no other things before your pursuit of intelligence
In short, if your life revolves around all of the exams you've sat
Then Ravenclaw is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

RAVENCLAWS
In short, if your life revolves around all of the exams you've sat
Then Ravenclaw is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

HAT
And finally, the Slytherins, who are a group of demagogues.
You'll don't belong in Slytherin if you're one bit ideologue.
They care not for morality or anything which keeps them back
To win they'll lie and cheat and stretch their enemies upon the rack!

Yet, if you all find that thoughts of right and wrong are so damn silly
And take all of your cues from Niccolo Machiavelli
Why, you will find a welcome place within the serpentine house, then
But when you're out of Hogwarts you will never trust a soul again!

SLYTHERINS (smiling maliciously)
But when you're out of Hogwarts you will never trust a soul again!
But when you're out of Hogwarts you will never trust a soul again!
But when you're out of Hogwarts you will never trust a soul again!

HAT
Although, if you think dog-eat-dog's the way of all the world today
And care not who you hurt just as long as you can just get your way..
In short, if you aspire to become a ruthless plutocrat
Then Slytherin is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

SLYTHERINS
In short, if you aspire to become a ruthless Plutocrat
Then Slytherin is waiting right within the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

=====================================

Please answer the following questions the way your character would answer them. At least one full sentence is required for each answer, and an explanation of your answer will help make sure you get sorted into the right house! All decisions are final.

=====================================

  • It's NEWT time! The one class you need to pass to be eligible for a good job out in the real world is your worst, and it's pretty likely you won't score high enough. That's when opportunity presents itself. Somehow, you've come into possession of the answers for the written portion of the test.

Question 1: If you had the opportunity to cheat on your NEWTs, would you?

  • Being broke sucks. You've been out for hours running errands or just hanging out, already having spent all your money on things you may or may not need when you walk past a vendor selling your favorite treat. Of course, being broke you walk past with a sigh. It's been a while since you've eaten too. That's when you spot a woman getting up for a nearby bench. Sitting next to where she was is a small pile of coins, mostly knuts and a few sickles. Probably change left over from the vendors stall. It's not much, just enough for that treat you had been eying earlier. The woman doesn't seem to notice she left it behind.

Question 2: If someone dropped money nearby, but didn't notice, what would you do?

  • Someone decides to play a practical joke on you for fun. We won't go into detail here, but you are very publicly embarrassed. It was all in good fun, of course. No actual personal harm was intended, but the embarrassment is quite... embarrassing.

Question 3: If someone humiliated you as a joke, how would you react?

  • You're late! You have a really good excuse, but the fact remains that you're late to class, and your professor is a real hard ass who runs a very tight ship and will not accept tardiness. As soon as you walk in, your professor's eyes narrow at you and the tirade begins.

Question 4: If you were being publicly dressed down by a superior, how would you handle it?

  • You're right in the middle of studying for an upcoming test when your friend approaches you to ask for help studying for their test. It's not the same subject, so it's not like you can study the same thing together, but it's really important that they pass this particular test.

Question 5: If a friend needed help, but you were already very busy, what would you do?

  • Some jerk starts telling you off in public for something you didn't do. He has a couple of friends with him, and just looks like he wants to start some trouble. His loud voice and accusations have quite a few people looking in your direction. You know how rumors are, and it looked like some were already starting.

Question 6: If you were being accused of things you didn't do, and didn't want to be thought of doing, how would you react?

  • Some friends want to go hang out in the Forbidden Forest after dark. You've heard stories about how it can be in there, and being caught there could end up in some serious trouble, but your friends really want you to go. Still, rules are rules for a reason...

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?

  • (Wizard born only) As you take your seat on the stool and have the crumpled, old sorting hat placed on your head, you think back to your family and remember how proud they looked when they spoke of their own sorting and the house they were placed in...

Question 8: If you're from a wizarding family, what has been the primary house your family is known for?

  • Thinking about what you know of each house, you see yourself standing in the various house colors but there's one that fills your heart with pride, and one that you simply do not want...

Question 9: What would your house preference be and which house would you not want to be in at all? (NOTE: This question is more of a tiebreaker than anything. It will not guarantee you a place in the house you choose.)

Question 1: If you had the opportunity to cheat on your NEWTs, would you?
I honestly don't see the point. If I'm gonna do badly on the test, and I need to pass the test for the job, then that means if I fail the test I might fail during the real thing. It just makes sense. I wouldn't want to cheat and pass, then fail when it really comes down to it because I didn't know what to do.

Question 2: If someone dropped money nearby, but didn't notice, what would you do?
Seriously? *sighs* You would pick that. Ok... um, actually? *laughs a little nervously* I'd totally take the money. I mean if she looks like she wouldn't even miss it and if I was hungry? Yeah, I'd totally do it. *smiles a little sheepishly* You want honesty, right?

Question 3: If someone humiliated you as a joke, how would you react?
Ahh, see this is unacceptable. I spent most of my life being picked on by an older brother, and I don't react well when someone embarrasses me. I tend to be pretty sneaky about my revenge, but in the end, everyone gets what they deserve ^_^

Question 4: If you were being publicly dressed down by a superior, how would you handle it?
Ok, this one is kinda weird. It depends on how the teacher usually treats me. If he's just an old jerk with nothing better to do than bother young girls for being late because she had to borrow a tampon from another muggle-born friend - what the heck do wizards use anyway? - then I'd probably tell him off and stalk out of the class. If he was a nice guy who had warned me before about bing late, or if it was really important that I be there on time that day, then I'd understand and take my beating.
*pause*
*giggle*

Question 5: If a friend needed help, but you were already very busy, what would you do?
My friends always come first. Except when I really need to study. I'm not all that great at studying so when I do I need total concentration. If it's anything else then I'm all theirs. But studying? That's me time.

Question 6: If you were being accused of things you didn't do, and didn't want to be thought of doing, how would you react?
I'd punch him. Simple as that. I don't tolerate people trying to make me look bad, as stated in an answer to an above question. And if it's going to be public like that, then his punishment needs to be public as well.

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?

Zayne isn't gonna read this is he? *looks around* I'd probably be the one suggesting the stupidly dangerous thing. What can I say? I like excitement. I kinda take after my Uncle Mikey ^_^

That's when opportunity presents itself. Somehow, you've come into possession of the answers for the written portion of the test.

Question 1: If you had the opportunity to cheat on your NEWTs, would you?
My Da' once told me that cheaters never prosper. 'Course, he won that hand of his poker game by slippin' the Ace out from his sleeve... Still I think cheating ought to be a last resort. Like if I forgot to study or simply didn' care much about the subject matter but needed it to pass. Still it'd have to be a good reason like that.

It's not much, just enough for that treat you had been eying earlier. The woman doesn't seem to notice she left it behind.

Question 2: If someone dropped money nearby, but didn't notice, what would you do?
Well now the questions are, how much money are we talkin' about and how much does the person look like they need it? Oh, and how much money do I got in my pocket? And am I with a pretty lass? If so, does she seem like the type who'd like a bloke to return the cash or grab it and help 'im spend it? See, you people want it all black and white but there's alot of important information in the grey areas.
...yeah I'd take the bloody money.

The quickest way to get people on your side is to laugh at yerself when you walk into a problem like that. Gettin' embarrassed is no bloody fun usually but if a bloke's smart enough to turn it around then it can go in yer favor pretty quickly. And if you show it up a bit you can become a legend.

Well now that's easy! See, I'm a bloody smart ass so I throw one liners at the stuffy old codger until I have the onlookers laughin' in their socks and the blow hard studderin' over his own tongue. It takes alot to shake me up and I'm pretty good at turning the tides in my favor I think.

I'm never too busy for a friend. I can't think of a school assignment that's so bloody important I can't drop it because a mate of mine needs my help. O' course I can't think of anyone I know that would come to me for help with homework either. I'm not exactly legendary for good grades ya know.

I'd kick the blokes arse o' course! It's not so bloody hard a thing really when the coward is standin' right in front of me with a bunch of his mates to realize he didn' have the balls to face me on his own. Then once he's all mopped up I bet the rumors wouldn't even get started.

Rules are rules because some funny old codger forgot what it's like to be young. Sure, some of us won't survive to be adults but what good is survivin' if yer surrounded by pillows and have a net under ya all the time. Yer never gonna learn anythin' playing life safe. Only risk takers make themselves great and I intend to be great, so I'd join them and do my best to make sure I came back alive.

For about 20 generations or so on the male side we've been Gryffindor. Ma' comes from a long line of Huffies and Gryffies and they're all proud as hell.

I don't much care what house I'm placed in. Each one has a long history that they can be proud of, if for different reasons, and I'd be happy to get into any house. Plus, I get on well in any crowd so I'm sure I'll fit in like I always do.

Question 1: If you had the opportunity to cheat on your NEWTs, would you?

-Oh Come on! it is common sense not to cheat on a test. besides, My dad may be dead but he taught me well. it has to be a really hard test, and then i would probably look at 3 or 4 answers.

Being broke sucks. You've been out for hours running errands or just hanging out, already having spent all your money on things you may or may not need when you walk past a vendor selling your favorite treat. Question 2: If someone dropped money nearby, but didn't notice, what would you do?

(*picks up the stuff* excuse me, you dropped this!) she would probably let me keep the money so i can get some food. I havent had sugar in quite a while

Someone decides to play a practical joke on you for fun. We won't go into detail here, but you are very publicly embarrassed. It was all in good fun, of course. No actual personal harm was intended, but the embarrassment is quite... embarrassing.

Question 3: If someone humiliated you as a joke, how would you react?

Well...I would believe a good curse is in order, if i am embarassed he probably didnt mean well. Yeah...a curse would do that little bugger some good. Hell would freeze over before anyone messes with cynthia Zeon Alastor Vane!

You're late! You have a really good excuse, but the fact remains that you're late to class, and your professor is a real hard ass who runs a very tight ship and will not accept tardiness. As soon as you walk in, your professor's eyes narrow at you and the tirade begins.

Question 4: If you were being publicly dressed down by a superior, how would you handle it?

stand there apologizing at first, but if he becomes extemely agitating we would argue, and then I would leave out of pure frustration if i didnt get my point across

You're right in the middle of studying for an upcoming test when your friend approaches you to ask for help studying for their test. It's not the same subject, so it's not like you can study the same thing together, but it's really important that they pass this particular test.

I'd tell them to give me a minute while i finish my work and then i will help them

His loud voice and accusations have quite a few people looking in your direction. You know how rumors are, and it looked like some were already starting.

Question 6: If you were being accused of things you didn't do, and didn't want to be thought of doing, how would you react?

He would have been hung upside down from the chandelier until he apologized

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?

I'd probably go, im not afraid of what is in there, its nothing compared to what my dad made me see.

(Wizard born only) As you take your seat on the stool and have the crumpled, old sorting hat placed on your head, you think back to your family and remember how proud they looked when they spoke of their own sorting and the house they were placed in...

Question 8: If you're from a wizarding family, what has been the primary house your family is known for? My family is known for being in each house once, but my family is most famous for my grandmother, who was a Ravenclaw

Thinking about what you know of each house, you see yourself standing in the various house colors but there's one that fills your heart with pride, and one that you simply do not want...

Question 9: What would your house preference be and which house would you not want to be in at all? (NOTE: This question is more of a tiebreaker than anything. It will not guarantee you a place in the house you choose.) Not hufflepuff, definitely not, the house seems a bit to plain for me

I would pick up the bag and run after the lady and give it back to her. I believe in Karma and who knows I might get something out of it by giving her money back.

# Someone decides to play a practical joke on you for fun. We won't go into detail here, but you are very publicly embarrassed. It was all in good fun, of course. No actual personal harm was intended, but the embarrassment is quite... embarrassing.

Question 3: If someone humiliated you as a joke, how would you react?
....Why does this sound like this something Michael would have done to me? *sigh* I would probably blushing bright red and try not to show my feelings but in the end I'll probably tearing up a little.

# You're late!

I would be quiet until he or she was done talking down to me and hope that they'll listen to me and hear me out for my reason being late.

# You're right in the middle of studying for an upcoming test when your friend approaches you to ask for help studying for their test. It's not the same subject, so it's not like you can study the same thing together, but it's really important that they pass this particular test.

Question 5: If a friend needed help, but you were already very busy, what would you do?
I would help them the best that I could and if they understand most of it maybe they can help me with my homework. It's fair to me at least.

# Some jerk starts telling you off in public for something you didn't do.

I would ask what proof that they had to show that it was me that did this. If they don't have any proof, I would probably yell at them for accusing people without showing any proof and then walk away from them. I didn't do anything wrong.

# Some friends want to go hang out in the Forbidden Forest after dark. You've heard stories about how it can be in there, and being caught there could end up in some serious trouble, but your friends really want you to go. Still, rules are rules for a reason...

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?
I would blame this on St. John. Anyways, I would probably go because I just don't want my friends getting into trouble or getting hurt. Even if it's going to be bad for me but I'm there for my friends.

# Thinking about what you know of each house, you see yourself standing in the various house colors but there's one that fills your heart with pride, and one that you simply do not want...

Question 9: What would your house preference be and which house would you not want to be in at all? (NOTE: This question is more of a tiebreaker than anything. It will not guarantee you a place in the house you choose.)
Hufflepuff, It's the only house I think I belong in. I don't think I belong in Slytherin at all.

It's NEWT time!

No I wouldn't cheat. Cheating is never the right thing to do. If I am going to do bad than I will take the grade that I am going to earn but I am going to get it by earning it and no other way. Cheating is never the way to go. You don't get ahead in life by cheating and I wouldn't cheat. I would study my butt off so that I don't have to cheat. I would study day and night so I know I wouldn't have to cheat to do better.

Being broke sucks. You've been out for hours running errands or just hanging out, already having spent all your money on things you may or may not need when you walk past a vendor selling your favorite treat.

If you are taking truely honest here then yes I would take it. Its not much and she didn't seen like she would need it to begin with. So why break my back to give back money that some woman doesn't even seem to need. If she did need it she would have picked it all up so that she would have it.

I wouldn't like it being picked on for being the smallest person in my class all the time was enough. I wouldn't get back at them right away. I would wait until they least expected. I would wait and bide my time. I would use my brains to get them back not my bronze. I would also do it where everyone would see it so that it was just as humiliating as mine. It wouldn't hurt the person just make them look as stupid as they had made me.

I would wait for him to be done and give a well educated reply as to why I had been late. I would stand there and take whatever he was saying to me. I wouldn't stand down from him because he was a teacher. I would take what he would give me and not complain about it at all. I would tell him that it would never happen again and I would get right to my work because that is what I loved to do.

You're right in the middle of studying for an upcoming test when your friend approaches you to ask for help studying for their test. It's not the same subject, so it's not like you can study the same thing together, but it's really important that they pass this particular test.

Question 5: If a friend needed help, but you were already very busy, what would you do?
I would consider helping them I would have to make sure that it wouldn't take all my time so I could do my own study I couldn't go without my study that would be suicide. I need to have my study time every day. Studying is very important to me. I would make sure and then I would help.

Some jerk starts telling you off in public for something you didn't do.

Think of a smart way to handle this. I know that thinking isn't probably going to help in this situation so I would probably tell him nicely to stop taking and accusing me of something and if that didn't work I would have to hit him or something to get him to shut up. I wouldn't handle someone saying something about me and not do something about it.

Some friends want to go hang out in the Forbidden Forest after dark. You've heard stories about how it can be in there, and being caught there could end up in some serious trouble, but your friends really want you to go. Still, rules are rules for a reason...

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?
I would consider going I would have to think about the situation completely and carefully. I would think about if something was going to get hurt but then I would think about someone calling me a coward and I would go along with them because it was better to go and risk getting hurt then to stay and considered being a coward.

My Family has alway been Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Its like a tie between the two. Half the Family has been smart enough to be in Ravenclaw and half have been brave enough to get into Gryffindor. It would be a toss up between the two. Its a dead even between the two houses.

Thinking about what you know of each house, you see yourself standing in the various house colors but there's one that fills your heart with pride, and one that you simply do not want...

Question 9: What would your house preference be and which house would you not want to be in at all? (NOTE: This question is more of a tiebreaker than anything. It will not guarantee you a place in the house you choose.)
I would have to say that I would want to be in Either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. I am smart enough to be in Ravenclaw but Brave enough to be in Gryyfindor. I don't really care which of those two houses I get put in.

I don't really see myself in Hufflepuff or Slytherin. I am not hardworking enough to be in Hufflepuff or Cunning and Conniving to be in Slytherin.

Orian Greyfender - Gryffindor head of house
Congratulations on your being sorted into Ravenclaw! The most brilliant, albeit morally grey, house of Hogwarts. Please proceed to your dorms where you will be greeted by your head of house.

Question 1: If you had the opportunity to cheat on your NEWTs, would you?

Answer 1: You're future success in life could be determined by this test, so yes. Who would risk not cheating if they could. I would look at the answers that I didn't know and I would be good. Academics aren't everything, who cares if you cheated on the test, in real life skill and quick thinking are much more prevalent then a test score.

Question 2: If someone dropped money nearby, but didn't notice, what would you do?

Answer 2: Stealing from companies and stores is fine in Mats books but from a person is entirely different. I would tell them they left the money so they could come back and get it.

Question 3: If someone humiliated you as a joke, how would you react?

Answer 2: It would depend if they where my friend or not. If I knew them well it would be fine, I would still be angry but I would vent my anger some where else. But if it was just some random person I would probably curse, stun or Hex them at the very least.

Question 4: If you were being publicly dressed down by a superior, how would you handle it?

Answer 4: I would handle it Casually and calmly it's not a big deal what my teacher thinks of me.

Question 5: If a friend needed help, but you were already very busy, what would you do?

Answer 5: I would stop what I was doing and help my friend, I'm not selfish, friends are more important then school work anyways. I don't study for test anyways never have and I've done... Well at least I pass most of my classes.

Question 6: If you were being accused of things you didn't do, and didn't want to be thought of doing, how would you react?

Answer 6: I start things diplomatically and would give them a warning and a chance to back off. If they kept on me about wands would be drawn and ether spells or fists would fly. Even if the rumors say I got my ass handed to me it's better then not fighting back at all.

Question 7: If your friends wanna do something dangerously stupid, what would you do?

Answer 7: There a chance your going to get hit by a car when you walk out side your house everyday. So with that in mind I would go, It would probably be a blast(It doesn't seem that dangerous they go in there like five times in the book and don't find anything that comes after them(Except once with the spiders but they where asking for that)

Question 8: If you're from a wizarding family, what has been the primary house your family is known for?

Answer 8: We have mainly attended Durmstrang for the past hundred years but a few distant relatives have bee known to attend Hogwarts. Most Where in Slytherin.

Question 9: What would your house preference be and which house would you not want to be in at all? (NOTE: This question is more of a tiebreaker than anything. It will not guarantee you a place in the house you choose.)

Answer 9: I like Slytherin or Gyffindor. Not Ravenclaw(Not Academic) or Hufflpuff.

There is no doubt that he is brave enough to be a Griffindor but seems a bit dark and immoral. But on the other hand he isn't a backstabber; friendship and loyalty are very important to him so he wouldn't fit in Slytherin that well ether. He's kind of in a Grey between Slytherin and Griffindor ether would be fine. If you want to wait I should have his Profile up soon

Oriaan Greyfender, Gryffindor Head of House-
Welcome to Hogwarts boy. You may need a little work, But I believe you could make a fine Gryffindor yet. After all, Bravery is the main requirement of our house, not morality.
